Biography

Irish flanker Alex Kendellen is a senior-roster back-row forward at Munster in the United Rugby Championship. Born on 3 March 2001, Kendellen came through Munster's pathway structure, a development system that has long supplied Ireland's Test-level back row with tight-forward talent. His progression carried him through age-grade representation with Ireland during his junior years, and since his move into the senior Munster environment he has continued to feature across URC and European fixture rotations for the province. His role spans the core flanker responsibilities of breakdown work, tackle volume, lineout contribution at the tail and carrying through contact. Munster operate in one of European rugby's toughest leagues, where the weekly demands of URC and Champions Cup competition require strong bench-to-starter depth across the back row, and Kendellen is among the forwards the province has leaned on across those competitions. Now in his mid-twenties, he continues to feature as part of Munster's longer-term back-row planning alongside established senior names.
