Biography
Born on 12 April 2003, Alfie Bell is an English second-row who plies his trade at Exeter Chiefs in the Gallagher Premiership. The lock is a product of the Chiefs' academy pathway, a system that has consistently developed forwards capable of stepping into the senior pack. As a powerful set-piece operator, Bell offers a reliable presence in the lineout and brings physicality through the contact area. His game centres on traditional second-row duties — competing for restarts, anchoring the scrum, and adding weight to the maul — but he also looks to make ground when offered the ball in midfield. Coaches at Sandy Park have spoken of his work ethic and willingness to handle the unglamorous side of forward play. Still in the early stages of his senior career, Bell represents part of the next wave of Exeter forwards expected to follow in the footsteps of the locks who carried the club to its 2020 league and European double. Continued growth in his strength programme and lineout calling is expected to push him further into the matchday rotation as he matures into a settled Premiership lock.
