Biography

Andrew Turner is an English loosehead prop on the books of Bristol Bears, where he has come through the club's academy pathway. The Bristolian front-rower represented England at Under-20 level in 2022, gaining valuable international age-grade experience before pushing for senior opportunities. To aid his development and accumulate game time, Turner has spent time on loan in the Championship with Doncaster Knights, the kind of move that allows young props to harden their scrummaging in a demanding senior environment. His handful of first-team appearances for Bristol have largely come in the Premiership Rugby Cup, where he has shown the robust scrummaging and willingness to carry that the position requires. As a loosehead, Turner's priorities are the set-piece, his contribution in the loose and the conditioning needed to hold up at senior level. He fits the profile of a developing English front-row forward working his way up through the levels, combining academy grounding with the practical experience of competitive loan rugby. The path for young props is rarely quick, demanding patience and steady accumulation of minutes, but Turner has the foundations to keep progressing. The coming seasons will be about translating his age-grade pedigree and loan experience into a more regular role at Bristol.
