Biography
Angus Ta'avao is a New Zealand tighthead prop whose senior career has taken him across multiple Super Rugby franchises and into the black jersey of the All Blacks. Born on 22 March 1990, he has built a long career defined by scrum craft, durability and an ability to adapt to the differing demands of successive coaching teams.
A powerful, technically refined scrummager, Ta'avao is comfortable anchoring a set-piece against the most physical looseheads in the world. He also offers a willing carry and a consistent work rate at the breakdown, making him useful across the full tempo of modern Test rugby.
At international level, Ta'avao earned All Blacks honours and featured in major Rugby Championship windows and Test tours. That experience in the national set-up placed him among the most trusted front-row depth options available to successive head coaches.
Now plying his trade with the Highlanders in Super Rugby Pacific, Ta'avao brings senior know-how to a young front-row group. His role is typically to set standards in training, stabilise the scrum from the opening whistle and mentor the next generation of tightheads coming through the franchise.
