Biography

Fijian prop Apolosi Ranawai was born on 16 April 1994 and plays his professional rugby with the NSW Waratahs in Super Rugby Pacific. A front-rower steeped in the Pacific tradition, he brings the physical presence and scrummaging intent that have become signatures of Fiji's prop stocks across the global professional game. At tighthead or loosehead, props in Ranawai's build are asked to provide set-piece stability, hold their own in the heavy tight exchanges and complement their work with ball-carrying impact when opportunities arise. Those are the currencies that tend to define a senior prop's value to a Super Rugby squad, particularly one in transition like the Waratahs as they rebuild their pack. The Waratahs' environment, drawing from both local Sydney talent and experienced imports, offers Ranawai a platform to contribute on the demanding Super Rugby Pacific stage. His role within the squad is to provide depth, physicality and experience in a front-row rotation that is tested week-on-week against some of the best packs in the southern hemisphere.
