Biography
Georgian back-row forward Beka Shvangiradze has built his career in the French game while earning recognition at international level for his country. Born on 12 June 2002, he developed through rugby in Georgia before moving to France, where he spent several seasons with Aurillac and accumulated valuable senior experience in the second tier. In 2024 he stepped up to the Top 14 with Lyon OU, signing a long-term contract that reflected the club's belief in his potential within their back row. Shvangiradze has also represented Georgia at senior international level, adding a small but meaningful number of Test caps to the Under-20 honours he earned earlier in his career. A flanker who relies on physicality and a strong work rate, he competes hard at the breakdown and offers defensive resolve in the loose. Still in the earlier stages of his top-flight career, he forms part of the steady stream of Georgian forwards making their mark in France's premier competition. Continued game time at Lyon offers him the platform to establish himself at club level and to push for further involvement with the national team in the years ahead.
