Biography

One of the brighter young talents to come through at Newcastle, Ben Douglas is a scrum-half tasked with pulling the strings at the base of the ruck for the Red Bulls. Born on 16 January 2004, Douglas brings the qualities a modern nine is built on: crisp, rapid service to his backs, an astute tactical kicking game and the awareness to control the tempo of a match. As the crucial link between forwards and backs, he is increasingly trusted to organise play and dictate territory from the heart of the side. Still in the early stages of his senior career, Douglas continues to add game-management and consistency to a naturally sharp skill set, learning the rhythms of professional rugby with each appearance. Newcastle have shown faith in their academy-developed players, and Douglas is among those given the platform to grow. His composure and decision-making mark him out as a promising scrum-half for the future.
