Biography

Edinburgh Rugby scrum-half Ben Vellacott was born on 28 March 1995 and represents Scotland at international level. A halfback now into his thirties, Vellacott plies his club trade in the United Rugby Championship, where Edinburgh compete against the leading Irish, Welsh, Italian and South African provinces across a long domestic calendar, before combining that schedule with European competition. His international recognition with Scotland places him among a generation of Scottish halfbacks who have been in contention for Test selection across recent campaigns. Before his move north, Vellacott built his senior-level foundation in English club rugby, giving him cross-competition experience that shapes his decision-making under pressure. At Edinburgh his role revolves around dictating tempo at the base of the ruck, managing game state against URC opposition and linking forward-led platforms to the backs. Vellacott's combination of experience and sharpness around the breakdown remains a useful asset for Edinburgh across both league and European knockout fixtures.
