Boldwin Hansen

A product of South African age-grade rugby, Boldwin Hansen is an outside back on the books of the Lions in Johannesburg. Born on 26 March 2001, he can operate on the wing or at fullback, where his height of around 1.89 metres gives him a strong aerial presence under the high ball. Hansen progressed through the Golden Lions setup and made his Currie Cup debut in 2022 before earning opportunities with the Lions in the United Rugby Championship. Still in the early phase of his professional career, Hansen is working to establish himself as a regular in a competitive Lions backline. As a back-three player he combines size with the pace and footwork expected of a modern outside back, offering options both as a finisher and as a last line of defence. With first-team experience steadily growing, he represents one of the developing talents the Lions will look to build around in the seasons ahead.
