Biography
A young Welsh back-row forward on the books at Gloucester, Caio James was born on 17 April 2006. Qualified for Wales, he represents the latest generation of forwards coming through the club's academy pathway at Kingsholm, which has a long-standing reputation for developing physical, aggressive loose forwards. As a back-rower James is valued for his work rate in contact, carrying into heavy traffic and his industry at the breakdown. Gloucester's pack identity — built on set-piece solidity and relentless physicality — fits the style he has shown through age-grade rugby, and his time in the senior environment is aimed at refining the detail around his natural traits. Still in the formative stages of his career, James is part of a Gloucester group juggling Premiership commitments with European competition. His focus is on earning consistent senior minutes, developing the tactical side of his game and continuing to build towards the higher age-grade representative honours the Welsh pathway offers.
