Biography
Caleb Tangitau, born on 19 March 2003, is an outside back with the Highlanders who has progressed through New Zealand's age-grade system before earning a Super Rugby Pacific contract. Quick, direct and comfortable carrying into contact, he is equally at home on the wing or at fullback, offering both an attacking spark and defensive solidity in the back three. His pace and physicality make him a useful option when the Highlanders look to stretch defences or counter-attack from deep, and his versatility gives the coaching staff valuable flexibility across the back line. Having graduated from the New Zealand development pathway, Tangitau is among the younger backs the franchise is investing in for the future. Super Rugby Pacific provides a stern proving ground, pitting him against established internationals and seasoned professionals across the competition. As he settles into the demands of that level, the focus for the young outside back is on translating his natural athleticism into consistent senior performances. With game time and experience, Tangitau has the tools to stake a firm claim for a regular role in the Highlanders' back three.
