Biography

A natural leader and tireless worker, Callum Chick has long been one of the cornerstones of the Newcastle pack. Born on 25 November 1996, the back-row forward operates at blindside flanker or number eight, where his physicality, defensive grunt and high work rate make him a constant presence around the field. Chick has captained Newcastle with distinction, leading by example through his uncompromising carrying and tackling. His pedigree was evident early: he was part of the England side that won the World Rugby U20 Championship in 2016, a marker of the potential he has gone on to fulfil at senior level. For Newcastle he is a dependable physical and defensive leader, the kind of forward who sets standards in the contact area and asks questions of opposition packs week after week. Experienced, durable and committed, Chick remains a key figure in the Red Bulls' forward effort and a respected voice within the squad.
