Biography
Caolin Blade has been one of Connacht Rugby's longest-serving and most influential players, a scrum-half whose career at the Galway-based province has spanned more than a decade. Born in 1994, the Ireland international has become synonymous with Connacht, operating as the principal No. 9 during much of that period. His game blends sharp distribution, intelligent support running, and the sniping break that has become a trademark around the fringes of the ruck. Blade was part of the Connacht squad that claimed the 2015/16 PRO12 title — the province's landmark domestic trophy — and has taken on senior leadership responsibility at the club, including captaincy duties. Capped by Ireland, he has balanced long-term club service with international recognition, building a reputation as a durable and consistent performer at both levels. His experience at the base of the ruck provides Connacht with tempo, tactical management, and a calm organising presence through the demands of the URC and European competition week on week.
