Biography

Welsh back-row forward Deian Gwynne is an emerging flanker on the books at Gloucester Rugby, where he is developing within one of the Premiership's most storied clubs. Born on 2 February 2006, the young loose forward brings energy and ambition to the Kingsholm setup. Gwynne's game is built around relentless activity. As a flanker he is expected to be a constant presence at the breakdown, an aggressive defender and an effective link between the forwards and backs. At 20, he is at the developmental stage where physical maturity and consistency of performance will determine how quickly he can press for regular senior involvement. Representing the next wave of Welsh forward talent, Gwynne offers the mobility and appetite for work that characterise the modern openside. His focus will be on translating the promise shown in age-grade and academy rugby into the more demanding environment of senior club competition. With a strong work ethic and an instinct for the contact area, Deian Gwynne is a prospect Gloucester will be keen to nurture through the club's development pathway.
