Diego Jurd

French back Diego Jurd was born on 21 August 2006 and is part of the Stade Rochelais development pathway on the Atlantic coast. La Rochelle have transformed themselves into one of the most successful clubs in European rugby over recent seasons, and their academy has become an increasingly important feeder into a squad of international standing. As a back at this stage of his career, Jurd's development priorities are adapting to the demands of senior rugby, building game understanding within the club's attacking structures and adding the physical and technical detail required at Top 14 level. The French top flight is widely regarded as one of the most physically demanding in the world, and that environment shapes the edges of any young back's game. Within Stade Rochelais' Espoirs and senior framework, Jurd is working alongside experienced internationals and a coaching group that has led the club to sustained domestic and European success. His role at the moment is to push for minutes, continue his progression through the age-grade levels and aim to earn wider recognition as his career matures.
