Biography
Part of one of French rugby's most recognisable families, Donovan Taofifénua is a tighthead prop plying his trade with Montpellier Hérault Rugby. Born on 30 March 1999, he came through the club's pathway and developed into a forward known for his scrummaging and his ability to carry strongly in open play. He was part of the wider Montpellier squad during the club's Top 14-winning campaign of 2021-22, a high point in the team's recent history. Taofifénua's principal contribution comes at the set-piece, where the tighthead's role is to anchor the scrum and provide the stability on which the rest of the forward effort is built. He supplements that with physical involvement in the loose, offering ball-carrying weight and defensive presence. Whether starting or making an impact from the bench, his job is to deliver the front-row solidity that allows Montpellier to compete in the demanding physical battles of the French top flight.
