Biography

Dylan Pietsch is a powerful, pacy outside back who has become a familiar figure for the Western Force in Super Rugby Pacific. Born on 23 April 1998, the Australian came to prominence through the sevens game, representing the Australian men's sevens program — including at Commonwealth Games level — before transitioning to a prominent role in the fifteen-a-side game. That sevens grounding is evident in his footwork, acceleration and ability to beat defenders in one-on-one situations. For the Force he operates primarily on the wing, where his combination of speed and physicality makes him a genuine attacking threat and a reliable presence under the high ball. Pietsch backs up his attacking output with a strong defensive work rate, using his power to make dominant tackles and his pace to cover ground in the back field. His form for the Force has brought him into the wider Wallabies conversation, and he remains an important attacking weapon in the Australian side's back three.
