Biography
Few modern looseheads are as immediately recognisable as Ellis Genge. Born on 16 February 1995, the England prop has built a reputation as one of the most combative and charismatic forwards in the international game, combining serious scrum power with an edge-of-the-seat carrying game.
Genge's hallmark is his ball-carrying. He attacks the line with low body height, genuine leg drive and a willingness to take on multiple defenders, producing a gain-line threat that few looseheads in world rugby can match. He pairs that with a strong scrum, where his power and low technique give England a platform from which to build.
A long-serving England international, Genge has featured in multiple Six Nations campaigns and Rugby World Cup cycles, establishing himself as a senior leader within the squad. He has captained England and is widely regarded as one of the standard-setters in the forward pack.
At club level he has been a central figure in the Premiership, returning to Bristol Bears after a formative stint with Leicester Tigers and taking on a leadership role at Ashton Gate. His combination of front-row craft, personality and leadership has made him one of the defining English forwards of his generation.
