Biography
A Fijian-born wing who has become one of the more familiar faces in Australian rugby, Filipo Daugunu has spent the prime of his career with the Queensland Reds. Born on 4 March 1995, he is renowned for his line-breaking power, a fend that is difficult to handle in the contact zone, and genuine aerial ability that makes him a weapon in the contestable kicking game. After developing his rugby in Australia, Daugunu earned international recognition with the Wallabies in 2020, adding Test honours to a consistent run of form in Super Rugby. For the Reds he functions as a primary attacking outlet on the wing, a finisher who carries strongly and provides go-forward when the side needs momentum. His blend of size, pace and ball-carrying menace allows him to beat defenders one-on-one and to win the collision when space is tight. Equally valuable in the air and on the chase, Daugunu offers the Reds both a scoring threat and a physical edge in their back three.
