Biography

Fionn Gibbons is an Irish back capable of operating across the centre and wing who developed through the Munster set-up. Born on 12 June 2002, he had a brief early association with Leinster in 2021/22 before joining Munster, progressing from the academy to a senior development contract in early 2025. Gibbons earned eight caps for Ireland at Under-20 level in 2022, featuring in a Grand Slam-winning Six Nations campaign that marked him out as a promising age-grade talent. A versatile, athletic runner, he offers strong carrying in the wider channels and the adaptability to fill several back-line roles, qualities that made him a useful squad option during his time with the province. He is yet to win a senior Ireland cap, and the next stage of his career will see him move on from Munster after his departure was confirmed in 2026. His priority will be securing the regular game time needed to build on his age-grade foundations. Still in his early twenties, Gibbons remains a developing back with the all-round skill set to push for opportunities at his next club.
