Biography

Freddie Clarke, born on 10 October 1992, is an experienced back-row forward playing as a flanker for the Newcastle Red Bulls. With more than a decade of professional rugby behind him, Clarke is one of the more seasoned heads in the Newcastle loose forward unit. He plays a classic blindside flanker game: heavy on tackle workload, prepared to take contact close to the ruck, and willing to do the unseen graft that lifts a forward pack. He competes physically at the lineout as a jumping or lifting option and brings defensive organisation around the breakdown. For Newcastle, Clarke's value extends beyond his on-field minutes. He provides the kind of dressing-room experience and on-field calmness that a club rebuilding its identity benefits from, and he can be relied upon to deliver a controlled, high-effort shift whenever selected. He remains an important squad piece as the Red Bulls look to develop younger forwards alongside established performers in a competitive Premiership environment.
