Gerhard Steenekamp

Gerhard Steenekamp is a South African international loosehead prop, born on 9 April 1997, who has emerged as a key figure for the Bulls and a senior member of the Springbok front-row rotation. A product of the Bulls' development structures, he earned his first professional opportunities in Pretoria before pushing through to Test selection. Steenekamp is characterised by a powerful scrum, a strong lineout lift and the aggressive work rate central to South African forward play. His technical scrummaging has drawn praise against the best tightheads in the world, and his physical presence carries through to the collision areas. With the Bulls he is a pillar of a forward pack that contests deep in the United Rugby Championship each season, while for the Springboks he forms part of one of the most formidable front-row rotations in world rugby.
