Biography
One of the youngest talents on the Lions' books, Hassiem Pead is an outside back whose blistering pace and elusive running have marked him out as a player to watch. Born on 5 July 2005, he is a product of South African rugby's development pathways and has progressed through the union's structures into senior contention. Pead is comfortable across the back three, equally at home on the wing or at fullback, where his footwork and acceleration allow him to exploit even the smallest gaps in a defensive line. A natural counter-attacker, he looks to bring the ball back at opposition kickers and inject tempo from deep, while his finishing continues to develop as a strength. As with many young backs, his game is built on instinct and athleticism, and his coaches will look to add tactical maturity and aerial reliability as he gains experience at senior level. With time firmly on his side, Pead represents an exciting part of the Lions' long-term backline planning.
