Hugh Gavin

A graduate of the Ireland Under-20 setup, Hugh Gavin is an outside back who has quickly made his mark with Connacht Rugby. Born on 10 January 2004, he broke into the province's senior squad in 2024 and has since become an impactful ball-carrying option, known for his direct running, strong defence and ability to break the gain line. Gavin's robust playing style and high work rate make him a valuable asset in both attack and Connacht's defensive structures, and his early performances have suggested a player capable of handling the step up to professional rugby. Having impressed at age-grade level for Ireland, he now represents one of Connacht's brighter young prospects, the kind of physical, hard-working back the province has built much of its identity around. As he accumulates game time, he is well placed to develop into a regular fixture in the matchday squad.
