Biography
Few forwards embody Ulster's modern era as fully as Iain Henderson, the powerhouse second row and back-rower who has been a cornerstone of the province for well over a decade. Born on 21 February 1992, Henderson is renowned for his physicality in the tight five, his disruptive work at the breakdown, and a surprising turn of pace and offloading skill for a man of his considerable size.
Capable of operating at lock or blindside flanker, he combines the engine and athleticism of a back-rower with the set-piece presence of a second row, a versatility that has made him invaluable to club and country alike. A British & Irish Lion, he has earned a long list of Ireland caps and was part of the side that claimed the 2018 Six Nations Grand Slam, one of the standout achievements of his international career.
At Ulster, Henderson has taken on the captaincy and become a defining leader, anchoring the pack and setting the tone with his uncompromising approach to the physical battle. Now an experienced senior figure, he brings a wealth of knowledge and on-field authority to both the Ulster engine room and the wider Irish forward effort. His durability, leadership, and sheer physical presence continue to make him one of the most respected forwards in the Irish game.
