Biography
Few backlines carry the attacking threat of the Fijian Drua, and Isikeli Basiyalo is very much part of that tradition. Born on 13 June 2004, the Fijian winger is a powerful, athletic finisher whose game pairs raw pace with the instinctive flair long associated with island rugby. Operating on the edge of the Drua's attack in Super Rugby Pacific, he is a constant try-scoring threat: strong enough to bump off the first defender, quick enough to round the cover and elusive enough to wriggle through gaps that barely exist. Basiyalo thrives when given even half a chance, turning broken-field situations into scoring opportunities and stretching defences who must respect his speed out wide. As a young player he is still rounding out the all-court demands of international wing play, but his ceiling is considerable. For the Drua he offers genuine strike power on the flank, embodying the high-tempo, expansive style that has made the franchise such an exciting addition to the southern hemisphere's premier provincial competition.
