Biography
Jack Lightbown is a young Sale Sharks back-rower who came through the club's academy pathway after impressing in the North-West age-grade system. Born on 13 April 2006, the flanker is still in the early stages of his senior career, but has already trained with the first-team squad at the Sharks' Carrington base. Lightbown's profile is that of an openside-leaning forward: light on his feet over the ball, quick to support carriers, and tidy in the contact area. Sale's academy coaches have used him in both 6 and 7 jerseys at age-grade and 'A' fixtures, and his progression has tracked alongside other recent breakthrough names in the Sharks' back row. He is part of the next generation of forwards Sale will look to lean on as their senior pack evolves. Off the field, the Sharks have invested heavily in tailoring strength-and-conditioning programmes for academy players still finishing their physical development, and Lightbown sits squarely within that group. Game time at Premiership Rugby Cup and second-string fixtures is where his next chapter is being written, with the longer-term aim of pushing for senior selection in the Gallagher Premiership. For now, the youngster represents one of the more promising flankers in the Sale pipeline.
