Biography
In the engine room of the Bulls pack, Janco Uys is a hooker steadily working his way through the ranks in the classic South African forward mould. Born on 12 January 2000, he offers the robust physicality and set-piece reliability the position demands, anchoring the scrum and providing a dependable target in the lineout. Uys is very much a frontline grafter, the type of forward whose value lies in the unseen work: securing the set piece, hitting rucks with intent and making his presence felt within the Bulls' defensive structures. A high work rate in the loose rounds out a game built on honest, physical foundations rather than flashy touches. As one of the younger hookers in the Bulls' system, he remains in a developmental phase, refining the technical detail of his throwing and his scrummaging while pushing for more regular inclusion in the matchday squad, the familiar challenge for any hooker breaking into senior rugby. The competition for the number two jersey in a squad of the Bulls' depth is demanding, but it is also the environment in which front-rowers are forged. The platform is there for a forward determined to translate that promise into a settled senior role, and Uys has the physical grounding to make a case for it.
