Biography

Jason Jenkins arrived at the Sharks as a forward with a well-travelled CV and a reputation for raw physical impact. A former Springbok, born on 2 December 1995, he gathered valuable experience during stints with Munster in Ireland and Toyota Verblitz in Japan before returning to South African rugby. Powerful in the carry and disruptive in defence, Jenkins is built to provide go-forward ball and gainline dominance, the kind of grunt that gives a backline a front-foot platform to work from. His size and athleticism also make him a genuine asset at the lineout, where he competes strongly on both his own and opposition throws. Versatile enough to operate across the second and back rows, he adds depth and ballast to the Sharks' pack. Jenkins' game is not built on flourish but on the consistent application of power — punching holes in the defensive line, hitting rucks with intent and making his presence felt in the collision. That international and overseas pedigree brings a hardened edge to the Sharks' forward effort, and his experience of high-pressure competition is an asset to a squad chasing honours on multiple fronts.
