Biography
Jeremy Loughman is an Irish loosehead prop whose call-up into the senior Test side extended a career built through the demanding environment of Irish provincial rugby. Born on 22 July 1995, he made his Ireland debut in 2023 against Italy, adding a senior international layer to a long-standing provincial career.
Loughman's game is grounded in set-piece detail. He is a technically disciplined scrummager with a stable body position under load, giving his hookers a reliable platform from which to operate, and he couples that scrum craft with strong, direct ball-carrying in the tight channels. Around the field he contributes consistent defensive involvements and the high work-rate profile that defines the modern loosehead.
His senior international selection placed him among the elite looseheads in the northern hemisphere and broadened his tactical grounding against top-tier opposition packs. Earning that first cap against Italy marked a significant moment in a career developed within Ireland's highly competitive front-row pipeline.
At club level he has been a consistent presence in the provincial setup, where he has absorbed heavy minutes in the URC and on the European stage. Loughman continues to offer Ireland and his province a dependable, Test-hardened loosehead option, and his combination of scrum reliability and collision willingness has established him as a trusted senior figure in a national front-row picture with real depth.
