Biography
A product of the Bulls' development structures, JJ Theron is a South African flanker who was born on 8 February 2005. He has worked his way into the wider Bulls squad as an openside-style forward whose game is built around energy and physical commitment. Theron is at his most effective at the breakdown, where he competes hard for turnover ball and looks to slow opposition possession, and he gets through the defensive workload expected of a modern back-rower. As one of the younger forwards in the Bulls' United Rugby Championship set-up, he is still developing the consistency and decision-making that mark out established loose forwards, but his appetite for the contact areas and tireless work rate have made him a useful option for the Pretoria-based pack. With his senior experience continuing to grow, Theron remains a forward to watch within a franchise renowned for its deep production line of loose-forward talent.
