Biography

John Bryant is an Australian flanker, born on 20 February 2003, who has come through the pathway system at the Queensland Reds. A back-rower in his early twenties, Bryant represents the next wave of loose forwards the Reds are developing for Super Rugby Pacific. His game is shaped by the staples of openside and blindside play — working hard in defence, competing for the ball at the ruck and providing mobility across the park. For a young forward, the leap into Super Rugby Pacific is a significant test, pitting him against established professionals in a competition that spans Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific. Bryant's task at this stage of his career is to convert the promise shown in Queensland's development ranks into regular senior involvement, something achieved through reliability in contact and a willingness to do the hard, unseen work. As one of the emerging forwards in the Reds' squad, he offers the coaching staff a homegrown option with room to grow into a more prominent role.
