Biography

A back-row product of Leinster Rugby's pathway, John McKee was born on 15 February 2000 and is part of the next generation of forwards working their way through one of Europe's deepest squads. The flanker has progressed through the province's age-grade system, earning opportunities in senior squad training and matchday involvement as the club rotates its considerable depth across the URC and European competitions. McKee's game is built around an aggressive defensive approach and a willingness to compete at every ruck. He brings energy in the loose, looks to chop down ball-carriers quickly and is comfortable defending in the wider channels when the back row is asked to spread out from set piece. With ball in hand, he favours direct lines and short pop options to keep momentum moving forward through phase play. Like many Leinster forwards coming through academy ranks, McKee benefits from training alongside a stable of internationals and is being developed with both club and international rugby in mind. He has continued to refine his game while pushing for greater senior involvement at the RDS.
