Biography

At 17 years old, Jules Freynet is among the youngest flankers in Union Bordeaux Bègles' programme. Born on 22 June 2008 in France, he is part of an academy cohort the club has prioritised as it continues to build long-term depth in its forward stocks. UBB's academy pipeline has earned a strong reputation in French rugby for graduating forwards into Top 14 readiness, and players of Freynet's age sit at the formative stage of that journey. The flanker's developmental brief at this point emphasises athletic foundations, technical detail in tackle and ruck work, and learning the senior game through observation and structured training exposure. The French rugby pyramid offers age-grade representative pathways, and forwards in Freynet's bracket will typically be evaluated by national age-group selectors as well as their club coaches. While it is too early in his career to identify defining senior achievements, his combination of youth and presence in a major Top 14 academy place him on a recognised development track. His progress over the next several seasons will determine whether he can graduate from the academy into UBB's senior matchday plans and ultimately compete for game time in one of European rugby's most demanding leagues.
