Biography
Kaleem Barreto is a Scottish scrum-half plying his trade with Glasgow Warriors in the United Rugby Championship. Born on 19 December 1998, he has developed through the Scottish club system and is one of the scrum-half options in the Warriors setup and the wider Scotland selection pool. The number nine role in the modern game demands a blend of quick, accurate delivery from the base of the breakdown, a sharp tactical kicking game, and the communication skills required to marshal a pack around the field. Glasgow have built their identity around a high-tempo, pressure-based attacking game that places significant demands on scrum-halves to set speed of ball and manage territory. Barreto's playing profile reflects the type of accurate, busy half-back the Scottish pathway has increasingly produced, with his service, box-kicking and defensive reads central to his positional brief. Competition at scrum-half within Scottish rugby remains intense, and continued selection depends on consistency, game management and the ability to execute under the intensity of URC and European fixtures. His Glasgow role provides the competitive stage on which to press his case against international peers.
