Biography

Born 1 July 1997, Khutha Mchunu is a back-row forward on the books of the Bulls in South Africa's United Rugby Championship and Currie Cup squads. Operating primarily as a flanker, he is suited to the abrasive, breakdown-heavy approach that has long characterised Bulls rugby — defending hard around the ruck, competing for turnover ball and offering carrying weight in close. A product of South Africa's structured franchise pathway, Mchunu has worked his way through developmental sides to press for senior selection in Pretoria. His role at the Bulls is one of forward depth, providing another mobile flanker who can cover both blindside and openside duties depending on tactical need. The challenge ahead is to convert his physical attributes and consistent training-paddock work into regular senior minutes at one of South Africa's most demanding clubs, particularly across the URC and the latter rounds of the Currie Cup, where the Bulls expect a high standard of work-rate from their back-row competitors.
