Biography
Outside back Kyren Taumoefolau offers the Gallagher Chiefs genuine attacking spark from the back three. Born on 8 May 2003 and eligible to represent Tonga at international level, he is a powerful, dynamic runner whose pace and strength make him a dangerous finisher in the Chiefs' attacking system. Taumoefolau's appeal lies in his blend of speed and physicality. He carries strongly into contact, has the acceleration to threaten on the outside and offers a reliable presence under the high ball and in defence. Those attributes earned him a place in the Chiefs' wider squad ahead of the 2024 Super Rugby Pacific season, as well as recognition at Test level with Tonga. As one of the younger members of the Chiefs' outside-back stocks, Taumoefolau is still developing the consistency that defines the elite finishers, but his raw tools are obvious. Whether deployed on the wing or at fullback, he provides an attacking threat capable of turning half-chances into points, and his trajectory suggests a player with the ceiling to become a regular weapon in the Chiefs' back line.
