Biography

Léo Berdeu has been one of the most reliable goal-kickers in the French game during his time with Lyon. Born on 13 June 1998, the fly-half came through Lyon's system, spent two seasons with SU Agen between 2018 and 2020, and then returned to LOU, where he has been a fixture in the number ten jersey ever since. He can also cover fullback and centre when required. Berdeu's standout achievement came in the 2021-22 season, when he helped Lyon win the European Challenge Cup — the club's first major European title — with victory over Toulon in the final. He finished that campaign as a prolific points scorer, topping the charts in the Top 14 regular season, a reflection of his accuracy from the tee and his composure under pressure. A tactical kicker and steady game manager who has also featured in France's wider squad, Berdeu remains a key orchestrator for Lyon, trusted to control territory and convert the chances his side creates.
