Biography
Still in the early stages of his career, Crusaders lock Liam Jack is a young second-row forward learning his trade within one of the most successful environments in Super Rugby. Born on 22 August 2004, he is among the emerging talents the Christchurch franchise has identified to carry forward its renowned forward tradition. Jack's role centres on the engine-room essentials: providing a reliable lineout presence, securing set-piece ball and contributing the physical platform from which the Crusaders build their attack. His relentless work rate in the tight five and his willingness to take on the grunt work of the position reflect the standards demanded of forwards at the club. As a developing lock, much of his game is still a work in progress, with experience, conditioning and set-piece detail the natural focus areas for a player of his age. What he offers in the meantime is genuine size, effort and an evident appetite for the unfashionable duties of second-row play. Operating within the Crusaders' championship culture gives Jack an ideal grounding, and the franchise will be hopeful that his potential translates into a lasting presence in the second row.
