Biography
Scottish back-rower Liam McConnell is a flanker on the books at Edinburgh Rugby in the United Rugby Championship. Born on 24 June 2004, the 21-year-old is among the younger forwards in the Edinburgh setup and has come through Scotland's age-grade pathway as a promising loose-forward prospect. McConnell's game centres on a high work rate, abrasive tackling and a keen eye for the breakdown, where he looks to slow opposition ball and force turnovers. Operating in the URC exposes him to a broad range of styles across Irish, Welsh, South African and Italian opposition, an environment that should accelerate the development of a player still in the formative stage of his professional career. Edinburgh have long valued mobile, combative back-rowers, and McConnell fits that template as he works to translate his potential into regular senior minutes. With time on his side, he represents one of the emerging talents Scottish rugby will hope to nurture toward the international picture.
