Lohann Gil

Lohann Gil is a young front-row forward on the books at RC Toulon, one of the most storied clubs in French rugby. Born on 18 May 2006, Gil has come through the club's youth pathway as a hooker, a position that also sees him cover at prop, and he has earned recognition at international age-grade level as a France Under-20 representative. As a developing talonneur he is tasked with the demanding technical work of the modern front row: accuracy at the lineout throw, scrummaging stability and a willingness to graft around the field in the loose. Still in the early stages of his senior education, Gil has been pushing for a first-team breakthrough in the Top 14, where the step up in physicality and game management represents the next test of his progress. Toulon have a strong tradition of blooding young forwards, and the club will be keen to develop his set-piece craft and decision-making over the coming seasons. For a player of his age the priority is consistent exposure and physical maturation, and his France Under-20 selection marks him out as one of the more promising talents within the Toulon academy system.
