Biography
Connacht's Mack Hansen has become one of the most recognisable wingers in Irish rugby, blending an unconventional, instinct-led attacking game with a confidence under the high ball that quickly endeared him to provincial and national supporters. Born in March 1998 in Australia and qualifying for Ireland through his mother, Hansen made his international debut not long after arriving in Galway and rapidly established himself at Test level.
A central figure in Ireland's 2023 Six Nations Grand Slam-winning side, Hansen brought a creative edge to a backline already laden with quality. His ability to chip-kick into space, link with halfbacks in broken play, and finish the chances he creates has marked him out as a different sort of winger — one as comfortable initiating attacks from the backfield as he is finishing them in the corner.
At Connacht, Hansen remains a focal point of the province's attacking ambitions, with the western club leaning on his playmaking instincts to spark counter-attacks. His mix of personality, skill, and competitive edge has made him one of the most popular figures in the Irish game.
