Biography

Mackenzie Martin is a young Welsh back-row forward who has already broken into the senior international ranks. Born on 26 October 2003, he is primarily a number eight — having moved into the back row after beginning his rugby in the front row — and also offers cover at flanker, giving him useful versatility across the loose forwards. His progress through the Welsh system was rewarded when he was named in the senior Wales squad for the 2024 Six Nations, and he has gone on to add to his cap tally for his country. Martin's game is built on athleticism, ball-carrying and a strong appetite for work at the breakdown, attributes that mark him out as one of the promising back-row talents in Welsh rugby. Contracted to Cardiff Rugby, he has spent time on loan at the Dragons in order to secure regular senior minutes, a sensible step in the development of a young forward still establishing himself at professional level. With international experience already to his name at a relatively early age, Martin is well placed to keep building his career, and continued game time will be central to fulfilling his clear potential.
