Biography

A product of the Clermont Auvergne pathway, Mathys Belaubre is among the youngest backs pushing for senior recognition at the Top 14 club. Born in March 2005 and developed through the famed academy at the Stade Marcel-Michelin, the French back has worked his way into first-team contention after impressing coaches with his attacking instincts and composure for a player of his age. Capable of operating across the back three, Belaubre offers pace, evasive footwork, and a willingness to chase and contest the kicks that increasingly define the modern professional game. His balance under the high ball gives him a useful aerial weapon, and the Clermont coaching staff have leaned on his energy off the bench while building his minutes in rotation rather than locking him into a single position. For Belaubre, the priority now is translating academy promise into consistent Top 14 starts and exposure on the European stage, where the Clermont system has historically accelerated young backline talent into seasoned operators.
