Biography
Matías Alemanno is an experienced Argentine second-row, born on 5 December 1991, whose long international career has made him one of the most familiar lock partnerships options for Los Pumas. He has taken that body of work into the English Premiership with Gloucester Rugby, where he profiles as a senior lineout operator and pack organiser.
Alemanno's game is built on lineout craft, defensive grunt and a willingness to do the unglamorous forward work. He is a tall, athletic lock whose primary value comes at the set-piece, both as a jumper in his own lineout and as a disruptive presence in the opposition's. That lineout detail is backed up by heavy ball-carrying in the tight channels and a high tackle count in defence.
Internationally he has earned a substantial caps tally for Argentina and has been part of multiple Pumas campaigns, including the 2020 Tri-Nations win over New Zealand that remains one of the landmark results in recent Argentine rugby. At Gloucester he has brought that senior Test-match experience into the Premiership environment, adding voice and lineout expertise to the club's pack.
Now a veteran lock, Alemanno continues to profile as a trusted second-row operator for club and country.
