Biography

Mesake Doge is an experienced Fijian prop who anchors the front row for the Fijian Drua in Super Rugby Pacific. Born on 1 April 1993, he has enjoyed a well-travelled career that has taken him from Fiji to the northern hemisphere, including spells with Brive in France's Top 14 and the Dragons in Wales, before linking up with the Drua, the franchise that has given Fiji's leading players a high-level base at home. A prop who is reported to operate chiefly on the tighthead side, Doge brings the scrummaging weight and set-piece know-how that come with more than a decade in the professional game. Front-row forwards of his experience are prized for the stability they provide at the scrum and for their physical contribution in the tight exchanges that underpin the Drua's high-tempo, offloading game. Doge is also a capped Fiji international, having made his Test debut in 2016 and gone on to feature for the Flying Fijians across the seasons that followed, with his cap tally sitting in the high teens. His blend of overseas experience and international pedigree makes him an important figure in the Drua's pack, where his work at the set-piece helps lay the platform for one of Super Rugby's most exciting attacking sides.
