Biography

Born on 7 April 1994, Nicky Smith is a Welsh loosehead prop whose long senior career has taken him through top-level regional rugby and into the Premiership. He built his reputation as a technically strong scrummager and has developed into one of the more experienced front-row forwards in the Welsh system. Smith's game revolves around set-piece craft. He is a disciplined loosehead with a stable scrum technique, able to hold his shape under pressure from heavier tightheads and provide his hookers with a reliable platform. He contributes consistent defensive work around the park and carries willingly into the tight channels when the forward pattern demands it. With Wales he earned Test-match caps and experienced the Six Nations and other major international windows, underlining the trust national coaches placed in his scrum fundamentals. That Test-match exposure has given him a deep understanding of the physical demands at the highest tier. Transitioning into English club rugby with Leicester Tigers has added another chapter to his career, giving him experience in the Premiership alongside his long grounding in the Welsh game. Smith continues to serve as a senior front-row voice, bringing the matchday calmness and scrum expertise that coaching groups lean on across demanding elite seasons.
