Biography

Nolhann Couillaud is a young forward progressing through the academy at Stade Rochelais, the ambitious La Rochelle club that has become one of the dominant forces in European rugby. Born on 8 December 2006, he is part of the JIFF development pathway at his club and brings physicality and a strong work ethic to the pack. Couillaud has been recognised within the French development structures, providing robust depth in the forwards and contributing in domestic cup and youth competitions as he builds his experience. His role at this stage is that of a hard-grafting prospect, learning from the established international forwards around him while pushing for greater first-team involvement. La Rochelle's pack has set the standard in recent seasons, and the club's willingness to blood home-grown talent gives young forwards like Couillaud a genuine route towards senior rugby. As with most players at his age, his development is measured in incremental gains — set-piece reliability, conditioning and decision-making in contact — rather than headline honours. With the foundations now in place, Couillaud will be aiming to translate his academy progress into regular appearances and to carve out a place within one of the most forward-oriented squads in the French game.
