Ollie Fletcher

Ollie Fletcher is an energetic, confrontational flanker working to establish himself in senior rugby with the Newcastle Red Bulls. Born in September 2002, he plays a brand of back-row rugby built around sheer work rate, looking to make his mark at the breakdown by competing for the ball and committing wholeheartedly to the defensive effort by which a modern flanker is judged. His physicality in the tackle and his willingness to chase, clear and carry make him a useful option as he learns the demands of the professional game. As with many emerging loose forwards, his progression is about adding consistency and game understanding to an obvious appetite for the contact areas. Fletcher offers his coaches a developing forward able to cover the back-row roles and inject energy whether starting or arriving from the bench. The raw attributes are all there — engine, aggression and a readiness to do the unglamorous work — and with more senior exposure he has the tools to grow into a more prominent figure within the Red Bulls pack.
