Biography
Paul Hill is an English tighthead prop whose move to Edinburgh Rugby in 2023 added a well-travelled senior scrummager to the Scottish capital's front row. Born on 2 March 1995, he arrived in the URC with Premiership silverware and Test-match experience already on his resume.
Hill built his reputation at Northampton Saints, where he was part of the squad that lifted the English Premiership title and earned his first international honours with England. A powerful, broad-based tighthead, he is a specialist scrummager who prioritises low body position and a stable base under load, traits that allow him to anchor set pieces against heavier opposition looseheads. Around the park he is a willing carrier in the tight channels and a consistent defender in close-quarters collision work.
His transition to Edinburgh has given the club a senior front-row voice with deep exposure to high-level European and international rugby. That experience has added set-piece stability to a pack building its identity in the United Rugby Championship, and he has been trusted to absorb heavy minutes in the tighthead role.
As a senior prop with Test-match miles behind him, Hill brings the kind of dependability coaching groups lean on through the grind of a long URC and European campaign. He remains a trusted scrum option for Edinburgh and a valuable technical reference point for the club's younger tightheads.
